Jeff

I am a 26 year old programmer living in Chicago. I started this site as a place to keep track of things going on in my life, and more importantly as a place to experiment with various web technologies (the original version is where I taught myself PHP). This current iteration of the site uses Jekyll, mostly because I don’t update it often enough to warrant a bulky backend always running. I like to travel, create things (coding is really awesome for that), cooking, and just generally having a good time.

Photographer

I use a Nikon D3000 for my pictures. I always have it outfitted with a Tamron multipurpose lense. I mostly take pictures on vacations, even though I occasionally document weird cooking experiments with pictures. (maybe at some point, I will begin to use this site to document my favorite recipes?)

Programmer

I have been programming since 2005 (not insanely long). I prefer dynamic scripting languages that let me get off my feet quickly and get things done. I like to try and do things elegantly, but getting it done is much more important than how elegant the end result is. I mostly focus on web development as it is accessible and GUIs done via browser are so much better than anything else out there.

Site

Written in Jekyll, served via nginx, programmed with vim. I wrote the flickr integration as a plugin for jekyll. All of the code can be seen on my github repo. I use Google web fonts for the web fonts.
