classes start

So, classes start today. I found out that I have like 5 lectures a week for the one class I have tomorrow, at least for the first four weeks. I guess it is to cover material necessary for the later part of the course. But this also means that I won’t have that class the final four weeks or so. I do need to get my books, and they look expensive. I will probably eat lunch sometime (before class at least) and then head to campus before class to see if UBS or Follett’s has the textbooks I need, the one near my room was out. I’ll need to start early on the homework for my classes as I don’t want to fall behind or get stressed early. I will probably begin the part time work I am doing today, get a hang of everything so that it will all be easier from here.

oahu morning

Well, just woke up for my first day in Waikiki. We are staying in the Embassy Suites, which is super nice. There was an open bar thing last night, so I got to try a number of drinks, and then we had some basic food at this place called the shack. Now I am just chilling here in the morning waiting to shower and watching some football on TV. We flew in here yesterday around 3 and got settled in around 5. The big island was nice. Not very accessible, but very nice. I ended up staying around the condo most of the time. We explored Kona on Friday but I couldn’t find anything I really wanted to get. I hopefully will find some things around here. We went to a lua’u for Christmas dinner, it was decent. Some of the food kind of upset my stomach some. The highlight of the whole thing was the fire dance at the end of the night. It was pretty impressive. He really did all sorts of things that I hadn’t seen before, like lighting the other end with his tongue (he placed the flame on his tongue and quickly lit the other end) or holding the pole with his knee (in the joint behind the knee).

We will be heading out of here on New Year’s Eve, so I get to celebrate the ‘09 New Year, kind of sad… I think I will hit 2009 at some random point across the mainland. Maybe I will get a window, doubtful though… Well I better shower and get breakfast.

hawaii night

So I’m writing this entry in the dark because I am about to go to sleep…

Our first full day in Hawaii. It’s been nice. Very warm, relaxing, but not a ton to do. Even though I don’t plan on being super active this break, I’m completely content in taking it easy and enjoying not having to do anything. I hope to see the sights, shop around some, and generally have a good time. It is like 80 degrees here (in Fahrenheit Kim) and incredibly great weather. I think that I’m going to enjoy this tropical paradise.

I will probably add more when I can see my keyboard, until then, I’ll be in paradise =D
