finals

Alright, I haven’t slept yet, I have an exam in 2 hours, I have been studying for it since 10 last night. I hope I do well. This is my 7th finals week here at Purdue (its scary) and it doesn’t seem that bad. I’ve done this all before, my grades are all in decent spots, so none of my finals are really crucial to survival, worst case scenario with them is I get a C probably. I still study and prepare for it, but it isn’t one of those frantic races that I had to experience with some of my other courses, the ones where the final was cumulative and worth 50% of my grade. This first final is just a regular exam covering the last third of the course and its Psych, so I just have to memorize a bunch of information. I plan on getting to the exam in an hour (give me an hour to mentally prepare for it), take the exam in probably about half an hour (45 multiple choice questions based off of memorization doesn’t take very long) then stumble back to my room and crash. Then I have two days off until my two Thursday finals.

I was in the school paper on Friday, I may try and scan the little blurb sometime and post it, but that would first require a scanner. It was just a question I was asked in the Union about what I was going to do for break. Nothing important, I wasn’t super excited about being in the paper. shrug Well I better cram a few more facts into my sleep deprived head before I have to head out.

dead week

So its dead week. That means stuffs going down and coming to an end. I have finals in all four of my classes. Spread randomly across next week. I have to deal with the grades coming out this week and finding out my fate in the classes I am taking. I have a report still to do tomorrow and then I begin with my first psych course. sigh I am going to spend some time this week and next going through all my drives and reorganizing and renaming all the files, something I have desperately needed to do for a year or two. Then I can go through the program files and try to clear space up. Then I can hopefully put Windows on this small computer I have and hook it up to the TV, so I can play computer video on the TV, along with trying to play ROMs on it and such. That will probably be done after break however. I also need to find some time to sit down and wrap up Duck Hunt, then I will probably post pictures of it and also record a video for the professor in that course demonstrating my project. I also have been working through ideas for a redesign of this site. I drew one idea up that looked good in photoshop, but recreating it in HTML and CSS has brought up sub-par results. I will probably be adding entries from Hawaii, but that depends on my access to the internet and if I can keep this server running over break. I may end up dragging it home with me to keep it going, we shall see…

I should probably get back to work on my report. I will probably be adding a lot more entries this coming week as I procrastinate.

late_night_coding

So I have pretty much wrapped up the C++ Breakout. It runs flawlessly for now. C++ really is a fantastic language compared to Java. It runs smoothly, isn’t spazzy or jumpy, doesn’t stall. I also have Duck Hunt ready for networking. I hope to get that part from my partner by sometime today so that I can start testing getting the different modes to all work together. I will hopefully post either the compiled code or the source for people who want to mess with the games. I need to sit down and run through these few easy labs still. It all looks very easy for me now, since I really get these two languages real well.

We gave up trying to finish the dual core last night. It just is impossible to get it done in time. We were tracking signals for two hours to fix one bug, which then uncovered another, so two hours later, fixed and bam another bug. So we decided to cut our losses and try to get as many points as we could. It looks like most of the class is doing the same. Now I need to wrap up these programming assignments and labs to polish off this stuff. And the final effort will be on a Psych paper and an ECE report during dead week. Then finals week and finally HAWAII. I need to stop thinking about that, I think I’ve been doing a good job and have gotten very far in my work this week. Even though I have to admit that it didn’t take as long as I thought, mostly because the languages have become very easy for me. Now time to get Breakout ready for my partner. He is really lucking out, I have basically done everything for him, he just gets to add some small joke of a feature and he gets credit. I should just be an ass and finish it myself and take credit.
